A Battle Plan for the Fight Against AIDS
After listening to three days of calls for greater efforts to tackle the AIDS pandemic, more than 180 delegates at a special U.N. General Assembly meeting approved an ambitious Declaration of Commitment. The document, which identifies AIDS as a global political, human-rights and economic threat, committed countries to reduce HIV infection by 25% among young men and women by 2005.
