In the East Kimberley, as in many remote places, Australian Rules is a bonding force. At Halls Creek, Centennial Oval bursts into life on winter Saturdays, as footy fans from outlying areas make the trip to town. "Aboriginal people live, breathe and sleep football," says Warren Greatorex, an assistant coach and player with the Halls Creek Hawks. "Football keeps small communities going."
