I congratulate you for the clarity of your report on diabetes [Dec. 8]. For the past 19 years, as a pediatric endocrinologist dealing with children with diabetes, I have watched with amazement the increase in the number of young people with Type 2 diabetes (formerly called adult-onset diabetes), especially in the past 10 to 15 years. This escalation matches the tremendous rise in juvenile obesity.
