In a one-year study of four popular diets--Atkins (low carb), Ornish (vegetarian, low fat), Weight Watchers (low calorie) and the Zone (moderate carbs)--Tufts researchers found that all successfully promoted significant weight loss in 160 overweight men and women. The four diets also lowered the risk of heart attack, but Ornish did so a bit less effectively than the others. --By Sora Song
