The track was soaked, but it wasn't Mother Nature that beat Funny Cide in the Belmont Stakes, keeping the horse from becoming the first in 25 years to win the Triple Crown. It was EMPIRE MAKER, which had been the favorite to win the Kentucky Derby. Now that all the fun has been spoiled, racing fans must, yet again, wait till next year.
