When a nation doesn't have a great wealth of winter sportsmen it has to improvise. Venezuela is a case in point. The South American country's three-man team in the luge competition will consist of Werner and Christopher Hoeger, residents of Boise, Idaho, and Julio Cesar Camacho, who hangs out in Calgary, Canada. No matter where they live, the Hoegers have already established an Olympic recordas the first father and son to compete together in the luge. Father Werner, 48, on a year-long sabbatical from his teaching job at Boise State University, is happy just to be taking part. "We know we don't have a chance to medal," he said after their first training runs. "What we want is four good starts, the rest will fall where it falls."
